Hermès at Royal Windsor Horse Show, 13th – 17th May 2009

Hermes is proud to announce its participation at the Royal Windsor Horse show, where-by a 90sq/m ‘stable’ inspired stand will showcase their comprehensive range of equipment for both horse and rider. The collection will also include Victoria, a new dressage saddle and, through-out the show, a master ‘sellier’ from the Hermès workshops in Paris will be demonstrating the art of saddle-making.
Hermès was founded in Paris in 1837 by Thierry Hermès as harness and saddle maker and its story cannot be told without that of the horse. As a master harness maker, he quickly became known as one of the best manufacturers in Paris. In 1879, Thierry’s son, Emile-Charles, moved his father’s business to 24, rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, where he continued to expand his vision for Hermès, creating luggage for cars, ready-to-wear and accessories. Since then 6th generations of the Hermès family have further developed its range of products to include: leather goods, silk, ready-to-wear, shoes, perfume, watches, jewellery and porcelain.
The Hermes saddle workshop is still located at number 24, rue du Faubourg Saint- Honoré, in Paris, above the iconic Hermes store. This workshop is an engaging place where more than a dozen saddlers work to the highest standards of technical excellence and precision. One craftsman creates each saddle in its entirety and the specifications of each saddle are recorded in the workshop’s saddle registry.
In 2009 Hermès launches Victoria, its new saddle for dressage, where the saddle-makers have concentrated on both the technical detail and the aesthetic quality of the design. This saddle offers the rider the best riding position, and great comfort; it presents many new elements all conceived to bring the rider closer to his or her mount.
The Hermes stand at the Royal Windsor Horse Show is number: Z006
