Royal Windsor Horse Show – helping to educate local children

Royal Windsor Horse Show (12-16th May) is opening it’s doors to school children in and around the Royal Borough, by offering a special ‘Education Day’ on Friday 14th May.

In its quest to introduce younger people to the Show and the world of horses, Organisers have teamed up with The British Horse Society to offer a special day of ‘Maths, Geography, Safety, Horses and Fun!’

Royal Windsor Horse Show takes place in the stunning private grounds of Windsor Castle and encompasses a variety of equestrian sports and competitions as well as having over 200 shops to visit and a military zone to explore.

Starting at 10:30am, the Education Day will introduce pupils to the world of horses, including the career opportunities available; road safety and animal health. The various competitions and displays on offer at the show will also help children with their maths, geography and history, as pupils get to learn about native breeds and their heritage and how to win a top-score jumping competition using mathematics. Each pupil will also receive a goody bag to take away.

Details of the Education Day have been sent to schools in and around the local area, with three schools including Pangbourne College in Reading confirming their interest. Organisers are offering schools who wish to bring a group of children discounted entry to the Show. For groups of 20 or more the discounted ticket price is £4 per child, whilst teachers and supervisor go free (maximum 3 people). The educational day is restricted to children aged 5-16 yrs. The programme can accommodate a maximum of 30 children per group at any one time.

To book group tickets, please contact Kellie Lloyd on 01753 847900 or by email at: kelliel@hpower.co.uk no later than Monday, 12th April.
