Local Berkshire Riders one step closer to Royal Windsor!

Local riders from Berkshire are already one step closer to their dream of riding with the stars, after qualifying in the first stage of the AmTrust Equine RWHS Unaffiliated Championships - the competition which gives grass roots riders the chance to ride at Royal Windsor Horse Show.

Wokingham & Bearwood Riding Club, Berkshire held its qualifier for the Regional Finals at The Charity Open Show, Wheatlands Farm on Sunday 22nd February.

14 riders (full details below) from in and around Berkshire qualified for the next stage of the Championships - the Regional Finals - which are to be held on 18th/19th April at The Berkshire College of Agriculture. The overall winners were Joanna Richardson from Lower Earley, Rachael Scourfield from Brambshill and Paige Organ from Wokingham (who won two classes).

The lucky winners from the Regional Finals will then qualify for the Championships in the brand new BHS Frogmore Arena at the Royal Windsor Horse Show. The Royal Windsor Horse Show is held annually in the private grounds of Windsor Castle, by kind permission of Her Majesty The Queen, and this year runs from 13-17th May.

The overall Champions of the AmTrust Equine RWHS Unaffiliated Dressage and Jumping Championships will be invited back to collect their trophies in a mounted ceremony at the Alltech FEI European Jumping & Dressage Championships 2009, which takes place at Windsor Castle from the 25 - 30th August.

Details of other qualifiers being held in the area can be obtained from ‘the diary’ on the RWHS website www.rwhs.co.uk . Horse and Rider & Pony Magazines are also hosting details of the qualifiers at www.horseandrideruk.com and www.ponymag.com
