Riding Cob Classes
These classes are held under the rules of the British Show Horse Association. Horses must be registered with the Association and all owners, exhibitors and riders must be Association members. Riders must be 15 years of age or older.
Classes 68 and 69 are qualifiers for the Royal International Horse Show. The first prize-winner will qualify to compete at the final. If already qualified the second will qualify, if the first and second are already qualified then the third will go forward. In Maxi Cob qualifiers the first three will qualify.
Horses competing in the Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain classes at their affiliated shows cannot compete in Hack and Riding Horse classes at the same show.
The three highest placed prize winners in all open affiliated classes will qualify to compete in the BSHA Classic Supreme Classes at the National Championship Show on September 10th and 11th 2010.
The BSHA offer a Novice, Young Rider and Amateur rosette in each open class and a Championship rosette for each section. The highest placed Amateur Home Produced exhibit in all Royal International qualifying classes will receive a Blue Chip rosette and £5 money-off voucher. The highest placed amateur will need to contact Sarah Butler by email sarah@bluechipfeeds.com or on 0114 266 6200 ( a maximum of one rosette to be won at a RIHS qualifier. The award will then pass down the line).
Non-members may purchase up to a maximum of 2 Day Tickets per exhibitor, per horse per season. A day ticket will allow entry into Novice, Amateur, Young Rider, Home Produced, Working and Open affiliated classes only but will not allow entry into RIHS of HOYS qualifying classes. Horses registered on a day ticket do not require a JMB height certificate. Competitors can purchase a day ticket from the BSHA office.
The Irish Draught Horse Society (GB) will award Special Rosettes to the highest placed Pure of Part Bred Irish Draught exhibit in Classes 63, 65, 68, 69, 70 and 96. All exhibits must be registered or identified with the Irish Draught Horse Society (GB) on either their IDHS (GB) or IDSH Registers. Registration / Identification numbers to be stated on the entry form.
Entry Fee Classes 68, 69 and 70: £48 (including £7.50 levy for Royal International Horse Show)..
Entry Fee Class 63, 65 and 96: £40.50.

- Class 63 Working Cob
- Cob, mare or gelding, 4 years old or over, exceeding 148cm but not exceeding 155cm. Jumps not to exceed 2’9” and 2’9” spread. Entries will be limited.
- Day tickets may be purchased for non-members wishing to compete in this class.
- THE WILL O’THE WISP CHALLENGE TROPHY, presented by Mrs D E Bulens.

- Class 65 Novice Cob
- Novice Cob, mare or gelding, exceeding 148cms, but not exceeding 155cms, that has not won a 1st prize of £25 or more or a total of £100 prior to 1st January, 2010 at home or abroad in any showing class. Winnings gained as a four year old are excepted unless that four year old has won an Open class.

- Class 68 Lightweight Riding Cob
- Cob, mare or gelding, 4 years old or over, exceeding 148cm but not exceeding 155cm and capable of carrying up to 14 stone. To be ridden.
- Prizes: £52; £31; £29; £29; £29.
- Class 69 Heavyweight Riding Cob
- Cob, mare or gelding, 4 years old or over, exceeding 148cm but not exceeding 155cm and capable of carrying more than 14 stone. To be ridden.
- Prizes: £52; £31; £29; £29; £29.
- Class 70 Maxi Riding Cob
- Cob, mare or gelding, 4 years old or over, exceeding 155cm. To be ridden. Judges must pay particular attention to type (i.e. short legged animals of COB type). To be shown hogged.
- Prizes: £52; £31; £29; £29; £29.
- Cob Championship
- For the best Cob in the Show. To be judged in the Castle Arena from the 1st and 2nd prize-winners in Classes 65, 68, 69 and 70. Class prize-winners eligible for the Championship must compete or forfeit their class prize-money.
- THE ARCHIBALD WEIGALL CHALLENGE CUP, presented by Mrs H Coriat.
- Champion: £105. Reserve Champion: £52.
- British Show Horse Association Championship rosette.
- Class 96 Amatuer Cob
- Open to horses owned and ridden by an amateur, (the rider need not be the owner of the horse). Cob, mare or gelding, 4 years old or over, exceeding 148cm but not exceeding 155cm. To be ridden..
- Prizes: £52; £31; £26; £21; £11; £11
- Class 97 Lady’s Side-Saddle
- Mare or gelding, exceeding 148cms, registered as hacks, cobs, maxi cobs or riding horses, suitable to carry and to be ridden by a lady side-saddle.
- CHALLENGE CUP, presented in memory of the late Otto Oppenheimer.
- Prizes: £52; £31; £26; £21; £11; £11.

SIDE-SADDLE CLASS
Entries are restricted to hacks, cobs, maxi cobs and riding horses registered with the Association, to be owned and ridden by Members.
Day tickets may be purchased for non-members wishing to compete in this class.
Entry Fee: £40.50.
